HUDSON FALLS -

Jack Lennart Olsson, age 87, formerly of Rouses Point and Fort Ann, passed away on February 27, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Jack was born in Berkavra, Sweden on January 25, 1923, the son of the late Josef and Edith Olsson.

His wife, Gilberthe (Bedard) Olsson, passed away on October 26, 1992.

Jack was a past member of the Rouses Point and Fort Ann VFW's, the Fish and Game Club in Rouses Point, NY and the County Traffic Club of Glens Falls. He was a member of the American Legion in Fort Ann.

He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp in World War Two where he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as a flight engineer and ball turret gunner on B-24 bombers in the Pacific Theater. His duty was flying with a crew on bombing and reconnaissance missions over enemy territories. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Pacific Service medal, two major battle stars, Victory medal, American Campaign medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was also very proud to have been Member No. 152 of General Doolittle's "I Bombed Japan Club".

Returning after the war, Jack went to work for the D&H Railroad and eventually retired from the railroad after serving as a freight agent for over 35 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Ginette Eney and her husband, Renald, of Fort Edward, and Claude Letourneau and her spouse, William, of Rouses Point; four grandchildren, Angelique Osgood and her husband, Jerry, Kristian Eney, Brett Eney and his spouse, Ashley, and Ian Letourneau; as well as five great grandchildren.

Friends may call on the family Monday, March 1, 2010 between 7 and 9 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. Online condolences may be posted at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Mary St. Paul, 11 Wall Street, Hudson Falls, on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Joseph Dworak, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Rouses Point.
