Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Thomas can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

James Michael Thomas died peacefully at home with his wife at his side. He leaves behind his wife, Jean Thomas, and his mother-in-law, Joan Roach, who shared a home with them.

Originally from Boston, Jim and his wife settled in the Saratoga Springs area in 2001. He was an avid horse racing enthusiast, having ownership in several thoroughbred race horses which ran at Saratoga Race Track and Belmont Park. Jim’s passion for travel brought him all over the world meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. He was dedicated in his belief that no one should go hungry in this country and worked tirelessly to assist the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and the local community center’s food pantry.

Jim was well loved by family and friends and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife and mother-in-law, Jim is survived by his children: Jim Thomas Jr. and his wife, Cindy, Christine Thomas, Michael Cashman and his wife, Olivia; his grandchildren: Ryan, CJ, and Nick; his great-grandson, Jakob; his brother, Russell Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on the family Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., So. Glens Falls, NY 12803. Online condolences may be posted at kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Road, South Glens Falls, NY at 12 noon, Monday, July 7, 2014, with the Reverend Guy Anthony Childs, pastor, officiating.

Rite of Committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, 965 Albany-Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110.
