James E. Wallace, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 21, 1937 in Chestertown, NY, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lois (Sage) Wallace.

In 1955, Jim graduated from Chestertown High School, and also attended Adirondack Community College. On October 12, 1957, he married the love of his life, Madeline Hutter, when he was just 19 years old.

Jim was an entrepreneur, and in 1970, he opened Wallace Supply Company, Inc. He was also a very generous man who gave a lot of his time. He was a Boy Scout Leader, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Noble Shriner, a volunteer fireman at Satterlee Hose, and a member of the Scottish Rite.

Jim enjoyed reading, construction projects, remodeling, and traveling.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, David, Robert, and Gerald Wallace.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Madeline Wallace, his children; Sheree Lentz and her husband Mike of Brewerton, NY, Michael Wallace of South Glens Falls, and Patty Moffitt and her husband Tom of Gansevoort, NY, his sisters, Theresa Smith, Joyce East, and Rachael Ann Rowe and her husband David, and his brother Gary Wallace and his wife Debi, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will follow calling hours at 7pm with Regina Haag of the Adirondack Friends Meeting officiating.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Jim’s name can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield MA 01104.
