Obituary for Jon Andrew Brockway
HADLEY
Jon A. Brockway, 50, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 as the result of a snowmobiling accident.
Born January 22, 1969 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Larry and Nancy (Bennett) Brockway.
Jon was employed as an autobody technician at Bodies by Jay in South Glens Falls. He knew everything there was to know about cars and was always willing to help people out at the drop of a hat if they had car trouble.
On June 21, 1997, he married his best friend and soulmate, Lisa Smith at the Harrisena Community Church in Queensbury, NY.
Jon loved all things that went fast including snowmobiles, ATVs and boats. He was Lisa’s personal MacGuyver and could fix or build anything. They remodeled their home together and Jon adored spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking Kayhl for rides on the snowmobile and ATV. Jon would willingly go without to make sure his family had everything they needed, and he will always be remembered for being a free spirit that did things in his own way.
Jon is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Millard and Lillian Bennett, his paternal grandparents, James and Glennie Brockway, his aunts, Joan Bennett and Sally Bennett, and his uncles, David Bennett and Linden Brockway.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 22 years, Lisa Brockway, his daughters, Teresa and Brittany Schaefer, his parents, Larry and Nancy Brockway, his brother Tim Brockway (Maureen), his grandchildren; Kayhl Cutter and Scarlett Palmer, his aunts, Wanda Bennett and Marcia Guffy (George Reick), his uncles, Dan Brockway (Dale) and Stuart Bennett, his nephew Tyler Brockway (Molly), his niece, Megan Brockway, as well as many special friends including Michael “Wingo” Grygas (Lois), and several cousins.
Friends may call from 4-7pm on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801 with Rev. Nancy Goff officiating.
Burial will be conducted on Friday May 24, 2019 at 1pm at the Bacon Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations in Jon’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
