Joseph P.  O'Sick
FORT EDWARD –

Joseph P. O’Sick, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by loving family.

Born on November 5, 1923 in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Wallace and Mary (Opata) O’Sick.

He was a lifelong resident of Fort Edward and graduated from Fort Edward High School, where he excelled in baseball and basketball.

Joseph enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. During WWII, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged at the end of the war. Through the years, Joe enjoyed meeting his military buddies for their military reunions.

He was an active lifetime communicate of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward. He also was a member of the Elks Club BPOE 81.

Joe enjoyed gardening, hunting, and deep sea fishing trips to the ocean. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and neighborhood children and all his various pets through the years.

Besides his parents, Joe is predeceased by his six siblings, John O’Sick, Julia O’Sick, Stephen O’Sick, Anne O’Sick-Ciesielski, Frances O’Sick, and Mary O’Sick, and one nephew, Stephen “Schultz” O’Sick.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving niece and nephews, Linda Ciesielski-Bojanowski and husband Stanley, Daniel Ciesielski and wife Joan all of Plainville, CT, Mark O’Sick and wife Linda of Fort Edward, great nieces and nephews, Mark Ciesielski, Steven Ciesielski and companion Stacy Creamer, Karen (Ciesielski) Giuggio and husband Michael, Kristin Bojanowski, and Tim Bojanowski, lifelong companion, Rose Henderson and her sister Jean, and many hunting and fishing buddies.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am Monday at St. Joseph Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828 with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank the staff of Glens Falls ER and Tower 5 for their exceptional care for Joe.
