Obituary for Joseph Patrick Shiels III
BALTIMORE
Joseph P. Shiels III, 74, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness.
Joseph was born on March 11, 1947 in the Bronx, NY.
Joseph graduated from Lakeland High School, and then proudly served his country from 1966-1970 in the United States Air Force in combat during Vietnam.
He was employed for many years a as a facilities manager at both the Continental Insurance Building in Glens Falls, and also at Bank of America.
Joseph enjoyed cooking and fine wines. He could often be found watching Western movies and was a big fan of John Wayne. He also enjoyed learning about war history. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Joseph is predeceased by his mother, Alice Shiels, and his sister, Mary-Ellen Shiels.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Daniel Shiels (Jessica) of Fort Edward, his daughter Karen Shiels of Glens Falls, his grandchildren, Kennedy and Connor Shiels of Fort Edward, his sister Rita Bittner (Rob) of Phoenix, AZ, his brother Kevin Shiels of Greenwich, CT, his nieces, Danielle Bittner and Kelly Shiels, and his nephew Cristoforo Shiels, as well as his dear friends Joe and Amy Smith of Baltimore, MD.
At Joseph’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
A memorial service with military honors will be conducted at 10:30am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY.
