Obituary for Joyce O. Ward
Argyle
Joyce O. Ward, 96, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Fort Edward.
Born on July 4, 1922 in Weymouth, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Dale) Brooks.
Joyce graduated in 1938 from Weymouth North School in Digby County, Nova Scotia.
She was a member of South Glens Falls United Methodist Church.
Joyce loved children and her job at South Glens Falls Nursery School where she had many fond memories. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and was known for her famous cinnamon rolls.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband Richard M. Ward; infant son, William “Billy” Ward; brothers, Dale, Irvin and Noel Brooks; sisters, Noreen Ward (Jack), Eline Brooks, Gwen Vibert (Kerr) and Marjorie Dixon (John).
Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sheila Hamilton (Kenneth) of Argyle and Sandra Barrows (Jim) of Greenwich; her son, Kevin Ward of Hartford; her grandchildren, Shawn Hamilton (Veronica), Ian Hamilton (Jill), Shannon Bossom (Matthew), Matthew Ward (Kelly), Jedediah Barrows (Jennifer), Brooke Cacavo (Joseph); sister-in-laws, Estelle Brooks and Joan Brooks; as well as nine great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Joyce’s request there will be no calling hours.
Graveside Services will be conducted 10:30am on Saturday, October 6, 2018. at Stillwater Union Cemetery, Stillwater.
Memorial donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to Argyle Public Library 21 Sheridan St, Argyle, NY 12809 or a charity of one’s choice.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Kandora & Staff, for their years of Compassionate care as well as Dr. Gara and Fort Hudson Nursing Home Staff.
Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Argyle.
