Obituary for Kathy Gage (Jones)

Hartford

Kathy Gage, 69, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 27, 1954 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Christine (Nelson) Jones.

Kathy graduated from Hartford Central School and then earned an Associates degree in nursing from Adirondack Community College. She was employed as a nurse by the Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, CWI, and eventually for NYS DDSO until her retirement.

On August 27, 1994, she married Richard Gage in Hartford, NY. Kathy loved to sew and made beautiful quilts and baby blankets for her friends and family. Over the years she donated countless baby blankets to the WIC program. She loved animals, especially her cats, and could often be found watching the birds and squirrels that came up on her porch. She liked crossword puzzles, scratch off tickets, and always enjoyed traveling to Amish Country in Pennsylvania. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, Kathy was also predeceased by her grandparents, Grace and Floyd Jones, and Gertrude and Andrew Nelson, as well a sister-in-law, Laura Papps, and an infant brother, Michael Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 29 years, Rick Gage, her children; Amy Jones, Jeremy Cary (Mindy), and Christopher Cary, her grandchildren; Ryleigh Cary and Catherine Cary, her siblings; Lori Peterson, Gary Jones (Lynne), and Randy Jones, her nieces and nephews; Nicholas Peterson, Hope Peterson, Jacob Ashe, Tracy Ashe, and Breanne Ryder (Adam) ,her uncle Brian Jones, her mother-in-law Linda Kirby (Bill), her sister-in-law Cammie Thompson (Rick), her special friends Monica Young, Tammy Vance, and Kathy Wells, as well as several great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

Friends may call from 2-6pm on Saturday September 23, 2023 at the Hartford Firehouse, 8118 State Route 40, Hartford, NY. A Memorial service will be conducted at 6pm following the calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses on Tower 2 and the ICU at Glens Falls Hospital, and also to High Peaks Hospice for their care and compassion during Kathy’s illness.
