Obituary for Keith Brian Holmquist

Keith Brian  Holmquist
Keith Brian Holmquist, 59, passed away on May 26, 2013 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY after a valiant battle with cancer.

Born August 18, 1954 in Glens Falls,NY he was the son of Nelson and Pearl (Beagle) Holmquist.

Keith graduated in 1972 from South Glens Falls High School, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of the Field Operator 3rd Battalion 4th Marines. He served in the later days of the Vietnam conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1974 from Camp Hanson, 7th Communications Battalion.

Keith worked in the construction field pouring concrete and laying pipe for over 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and small game hunter. Keith was also a long time contributor to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Keith was predeceased by his father, Nelson Holmquist, his step-father, Joseph Ruff, and his beloved older brother Albert.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Pearl Holmquist Ruff of Schuylerville, his brother Gary Holmquist and his wife Patti of South Glens Falls, his niece Lisa Lanier and her husband Mike of Wilmington, NC, his nephew Eric Holmquist and his companion Koren of Moreau, his nephew Geoff Holmquist and his wife Stephanie of South Glens Falls, and his grand-nieces Holly and Abigail and grand-nephew Casey.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to continue Keith’s legacy by making memorial donations in his name to The St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude place, Memphis, TN 38105.
