Obituary for Laula W. West

Laula W. West
FORT EDWARD

Laula W. West, 88, of Fort Edward, went home into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday June 4, 2013.

Laula’s interests in younger years include line and clog dancing, all forms of arts and crafts, cake decorating, sewing, painting, ceramics and home decorating. She was an avid gardener. Laula was involved in so many groups and activities over her lifetime that they would be too long to list. She had a passion for music that started when she sang with her sister on the radio as a young girl in Philadelphia where she was born. She was an original member of the “Mastersinger’s” when that group was formed and continued to sing with the group when it became “Voices of the Adirondacks”. She played several musical instruments and formed and sang in several church choir groups over the years as she traveled in the military with her husband and after settling in the Glens Falls area. Her smile and love of the Lord were two of her most recognizable features to all those who loved and knew her. She will dearly be missed.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Gerry West and her daughter MacPherson Frazer and son-in-law King of Argyle; Grandsons Ronnie Brett West and his wife Stephanie of Silsbee, TX, Christopher MacPherson of South Glens Falls; A brother Jim Palace and his wife Alberta of Pitman, NJ; Daughter-in-law Eileen West of Saratoga and her dearest friend of many years Ione Mulford of South Glens Falls.

Laula loved and supported many animal causes and in lieu of flowers her family requests that memorial for her would be donations to the Humane Society or the animal support group of your choosing. She was “Mom” to many four legged babies over the years.

Laula’s family wishes to thank the staff of the “Orchard Rehab and Nursing Home” for their care of Laula in the recent months.

At Laula’s request, there will be no calling hours. To view Laula’s Book of Memories and to post online condolences for the family, please visit our website at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

Burial will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.
