Lillian H. (Lesczynski) Chaplek, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 with her family by her side.

Born August 29, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Hedwig (Szala) Lesczynski.

On July 7, 1946, Lillian married the love of her life, Joseph L. Chaplek in Brooklyn, NY.

Lillian was a Communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls, and was very active in church activities. In addition to being a charter member of the Rosary Alter Society, she also served on the Bereavement Committee. She was also a member of the Hospital Guild and she volunteered for the American Cancer Society.

Lillian was an avid bridge player, and she enjoyed spending lots of time with her friends, playing cards, shopping, and having luncheons. She was a wonderful cook. Lillian loved the ocean, particularly the sound of the waves, and she enjoyed going to the beach. She will be missed by many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her brother Stanley Lesczynski and his wife Mary, and a sister Anna Chalupski and her husband Ted, as well as a nephew, Edward Lane, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Joseph L. Chaplek, her children; Lawrence J. Chaplek, Joanne E. Chaplek, and Mary Beth Bain and her husband Chris Ciochini, her grandchildren; Lynette Ciochini, Corrinne Ciochini, her great-grandchildren; Shawn Ciochini, and Cohen Lee, her brother Edward Lane Sr. and his wife Rosalie, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Michael the Archangel, 80 Saratoga Road, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.

Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
