Linda L. Sheldon passed away at The Guilford House in Connecticut on Monday, April 5, 2010 following a long battle with cancer.

Born in Glens Falls, New York, on December 13, 1940, Linda was the daughter of the late Emrys and Elizabeth (Roberts) Lewis. In the Queensbury Hotel on Nov. 4, 1973 she married John Arthur Sheldon. They would share their lives with each other for over 28 years before his passing on July 10, 2002.

Following her graduation from Hudson Falls High School, Linda went on to Alfred University and received a degree in accounting. She put her education to work at the Finch Pruyn Paper Company in the accounting department and worked there for several years before her eventual retirement.

Linda’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, and in her later years her greatest pleasures centered on her children and her four grandsons. She was anxiously awaiting the anticipated arrival of her first granddaughter in July.

Linda liked to go camping and spent many happy hours at the family camp on the Hudson River in Thurman. She was also an avid traveler and loved to explore the casino communities, including trips to Las Vegas, NV, Atlantic City, NJ, and Saratoga Gaming and Raceway in Saratoga, NY.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Linda was predeceased by a brother, Emrys Lewis Jr., and a brother-in-law, Sanford “Skip” Collins.

Survivors include her son, Keith Sheldon and his wife, Ilana, and their son Ryan of West Warwick, RI; a daughter, Karen Bennett and her husband, Michael, and their three sons, Carter, Nicolas and Luke of Hamden, CT; a sister, Jean Collins of Hudson Falls; two brothers, Robert Lewis and his wife, Joan, of Landisville, PA, and Thomas Lewis and his wife, Terri, of Brattleboro, VT; several nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom she adored.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Fort Ann Cemetery in Fort Ann, NY.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all of the staff at The Guilford House for the care and compassion they showed to their mother during her stay with them.
