HARTFORD —


Lois Evans, 92, passed away at home, Aug. 3, 2010, following a long illness.

Born on March 28, 1918, in Van Buren, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Dom and Mary (Savage) Chamberlin. Lois was raised in Michigan and married Clarence S. Evans on Sept. 1, 1942.

After Clarence's time in the service they moved to Hartford to raise their family.

Lois worked as a production worker for many years at CR Bard where she made many friends.

Lois was an avid reader and enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a dedicated member of the Adamsville Baptist Church for many years and was a member of the Ladies Home Bureau in Hartford, N.Y. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband and her twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Chamberlin.

Survivors include her sister Zella Taylor of Bonaire, Ga.; her children: Carl Evans and his wife, Catherine, of Hartford, Joanne Thompson and her husband, Robert, of Concord, N.C., Gail McCarthy and her husband, Robert, of Stillwater, N.Y., Janice Chadwick and her husband, Richard, of So. Hartford and Janet Waite and her husband, David, of Granville; her grandchildren: Brian Evans, Michelle Evans, Robert Thompson II, Roger Thompson, Dennis Thompson, Richard Thompson, Cheryl Peters, Kevin McCarthy, Richard Chadwick, Renee Savorie, Nathan Waite and Keli Waite; several great-grandchildren and many nieces nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY. On-line condolences may be sent at www.kilmerfuneralhome.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ken McLoud officiating.

Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Hartford, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Lois' memory may be made to either the Hartford Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 121, Hartford, NY 12838; the Argyle Emergency Squad Inc., 248 Pleasant Valley Road, Argyle, NY 12809 or the Adamsville Community Baptist Church, 2091 County Route #43, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
