Obituary for Lora Lin Fioretti (Bonacci)

HARTFORD

Lora Lin Fioretti had the most amazing gift of making people around her feel good about themselves in the most remarkable way, and she was the most caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She peacefully left this world to be with our Creator the afternoon of Friday, December 24th, 2021 at age 59.

Lora Lin was born to Thomas and Barrie Bonacci on September 27, 1962.

Encircled by her husband, six children, and closest friend, Lora Lin was carried into the arms of Our Lord by the wings of angels and with the immense humanly love that permeated the atmosphere surrounding her at home.

In regard to “humanly loves,” Lora Lin had many in this world, but, unfortunately for her, the smell of cows was not one of them. She viewed the cows on the farm as an opportunity to “offer it up” for the greater glory of God and for those suffering worse than she was (from the smell!), and, despite the occasional “heavenly stench” that wafted her way, she was able to enjoy the love she found in her deep roots of family, faith and nature.

While she would whisper to the butterflies as she made friends with the songbirds at home, she was just as happy and content to have her toes in the sand and see the ocean thrashing its mighty waves against the shore. She saw God not only in the beauty of our natural world, but also in the gifts he gives us as the love shared among close friends and family. God gave Lora Lin a gift of creativity as she was an accomplished artist and painter. The fruits of her artistry may not be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art or The Louvre, but they are loved in much more intimate ways: framed and hung on family walls, sprouting and blooming in the family garden, sliced, diced, seasoned and cooked with love at family gatherings, painted on stone slates, knitted, crocheted, and stitched into snuggly weaves of quilts and blankets, and memorialized forever on the colorful family beehives.

The love of the Holy Spirit flowed through her in every aspect of her life, and this fact was clear in the way in which, over the decades, she opened her home, her heart, and her arms to those who needed a safe respite from the struggles of the world. To these “adopted wayfarers” and to her “adopted family” at Duffy’s in Lake George, Lora Lin was a true “mom,” and she could be found handing out smiles and hugs like candy or dressing any kind of physical or emotional wound. People were attracted to her beautiful light, and she illuminated the earth wherever she went!

She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Bonacci, Jr., and she is survived by her husband Edward, her six children Nicole, Mary Margaret, Catherine, Theresa, Robert and Patricia, her five grandchildren Anthony, Tristan, John, Eli and Vincent, her parents Thomas and Barrie, and her sister Lorinda.
