Obituary for Marguerite Rose Pronto (Roberts)

Marguerite Roberts “Mig” Pronto, 102, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 15, 1916, in Argyle, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Bussing) Roberts.

Mig graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1935. On August 30, 1935, Mig married the love of her life, Joseph Arthur “Buster” Pronto, at St. Alphonsus Church, Glens Falls. They spent 50 years together raising their family on 199 Redmond Road in Gansevoort. Buster passed away in January of 1986.

For 11 years Mig worked at Ballard School in South Glens Falls as a Cook. She was a lifelong member of the Adirondack Friends Church. Mig loved attending her bible study group, doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, gardening, singing and listening to music. She especially enjoyed reading the newspaper, but most of all spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mig was predeceased by her infant son, Lynn Joseph Pronto; her granddaughters, Lauren Pronto and Lori Gordon; her sisters, Evelyn Roberts DiManno and Kathleen Roberts Boucher.

Survivors include her three daughters, Joyce (John) Noyes of Queensbury, Joan (Robert) Kraemer of Athol, MA, Barbara (Paul) Powell of Bay Shore, Long Island; her four sons, Gary (Gayle) Pronto of Lakeland, FL, David (Marcia Dwyer, partner) of Queensbury, Richard (Michelle) Pronto of Belvedere, NC, and Mark (Tina) Pronto of South Glens Falls; her 12 grandchildren, Sandra (Stephen) Foster, Stephen (Michele) Noyes, Debra (Timothy) VanDenburgh, Jonelle Powell, Jeffery Powell, Johnny Powell, Paul (Shizuko) Powell Jr., Christina Pronto, Jenny (Rodrigo) Labatut, Melissa Pronto, Megan Pronto, Christopher Pronto; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Pronto; also 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 10 to 11:30am on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Adirondack Friends Meeting, 27 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with the Rev. Patti Girard, officiating.

A Funeral Service will be conducted following the calling hours at 11:30am.

Burial will be conducted following the Funeral Service on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Southside Cemetery.
