Saratoga Springs
Mary “Gert” G. (Wright) Carr, 81, of Saratoga Springs passed away peacefully at the Wesley Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fort Edward NY, on April 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Phillips) Wright.
Gert attended Greenwich school as a child, and later went to work for Valcor in Glens Falls as a cutter.
On October 28, 1951 she married the love of her life George Carr Sr. in Greenwich NY.
Mary loved spending time with her family, cooking meals for them often, as well as spoiling her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, puzzle books, BINGO, plastic canvas and crochet.
Besides her parents Mary is predeceased by her sisters, Beatrice Gosseline, Marie Weatherwax, Delia Sevrie and Betty Wright; her brothers, Walter, William, Robert, and Raymond Wright; her father and mother in law, Earl and Gladys Carr; her son in law, Donald Squires; and her two infant granddaughters, Angela and Heather Parent.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, George Carr Sr. of Saratoga Springs; her son George Carr Jr. and his wife Melinda, of Saratoga Springs; her daughter, Betty Squires, of Gansevoort; her daughter, Dorothy Parent and her husband Bruce Sr. of Saratoga Springs; her sister, Margaret Hunt, of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Justin, Jesse and Jake Carr, Donald Squires and his wife Jennifer, Cristie and Jermey Squires, Bruce Parent Jr. and his wife Angela; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call from 10am-12 p.m. on Wednesday March 11, 2015 at the Bacon Hill Reformed Church, 560 New York 32, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. following calling hours with the Rev. Janet Vincent, pastor, officiating. To leave online condolences or to Mary’s Book of Memories, please visit kilmerfuneralhome.com.
Burial will be at 1pm on Friday May 29, 2015 at Saratoga National Cemetery.
