FORT EDWARD

Mary Cicero Montello Curtis, 86, of Center St, Fort Edward, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born May 4, 1927, in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Carmela (Bucolo) Cicero.

Mary was a graduate of Fort Edward High School, class of 1945. After graduation, she was employed by the Glens Falls Insurance Company, and later by Grand Union and Scott Paper.

On June 6, 1948, she married Ernest Montello. She lived in Hawaii for several years while he was stationed there in the United States Navy. Ernest died in 1958.

On July 7, 1963, Mary married Bernard Curtis, and they were married for 43 years before his passing in 2006.

Mary was strong in her faith and would pray the rosary countless times during the day. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, and a member of Court Morrissey #1477, Catholic Daughter of the Americas.

Due to failing health these past few years, Mary was limited in activities, but enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed her vacation to Hampton Beach, NH each summer.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Mary was predeceased by her sons; Joseph and John Montello, her brothers; Joseph, Sebastian, and Robert Cicero, her sister Dominica Turco, her brother-in-law; John Turco, brother-in-law Anthony Montello and his wife Alice, sister-in law Rita LaClair and her husband Edward, brother-in-law Richard Curtis and his wife Marilyn, nephews Robert and Donald Curtis, and her aunt Anna Bucolo Choppy.

Mary is survived by her children; James Montello of Dayton, OH, Maria Edgington of Queensbury, and Jeffrey Curtis and his wife Mary of Fort Edward, daughters-in-law Betty Montello of Alabama, and Deborah Montello Mumblo of Hudson Falls, her sister Angela Cicero Viele and her husband David of Fort Edward, her sisters-in-law Teresa Cicero, Molly Cicero, Carol Cicero, and Diane Curtis. Her brother-in-law Donald Curtis and his wife Joanne, her cousin Mary Ann Nichols, her grandchildren; Todd Montello, Christopher Edgington, Megan Montello, Christine and Lou Song, Gina Montello, Keith Edgington, Alexis Curtis, and Morgan Curtis, her three great grandchildren, and her Godchild, Mary Margaret Randall, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Edward, NY.
