Obituary for Mary A. Phillips

FORT EDWARD

Mary A. Phillips, 68, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born May 16, 1950 in Emma Lang Stevens Hospital in Granville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Theresa (Curtis) Loveland.

Mary was raised in Salem, NY by her late grandparents Henry and Nyna Curtis, as well as her late uncle James M. Curtis. She graduated from Washington Academy. Mary retired from Mallinckrodt in Argyle, NY.

On July 11, 1968, Mary married Robert N. Phillips and together they raised their family until his passing on January 24, 2015. Robert was the love of her life and the “Wind Beneath Her Wings”.

After her husband’s passing, her daughter-in-law became the wind beneath Mary’s wings, and Mary considered Jilly to be her best friend. Mary told everyone she met, “If everyone had a daughter-in-law like mine, the world would be a better place!” In Mary’s eyes, Jilly was a daughter and not an “in-law”. Mary’s favorite times in life were the days spent with her son, Jilly and family. She cherished those moments, and also loved her fur babies, Little Salem and Nilly. Mary will always be remembered as the type of person who placed others before herself and didn’t want anyone to have to worry about her, even to the point of writing this obituary so her family would not have to struggle. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

In addition to her grandparents, parents, uncle, and husband, Mary is predeceased by a wonderful family friend, Dennis Donnelly.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Phillips Jr. (Jill), her granddaughter Maryanne Phillips (Michael Carrera), her grandson, Mason Blanck (Nicole Laing), her great-grandson, Andrew Robert Carrera, and Jill’s father, Bob Schmidt.

Friends may call from 1-4pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. A funeral service will be conducted at 4pm following the calling hours with Rev. Patti Girard officiating.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Hebron Cemetery, Chamberlain Mills Road, Hebron.

At Mary’s request, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the North Shore Animal League, 115 Maple Street Glens Falls, NY 12801.
