ASSEMBLY POINT ­­

Mary Dayle Walden passed away peacefully at her beloved sand cove home at Assembly Point on Lake George, New York.

She went to her rest quietly and can now laugh again with Bobby, Mark, and Austin.

She was the daughter of the late Florence (Sears) Hoegh and John Hoegh.

She was born June 1, 1927, in Tacoma, Washington, and graduated from the University of
Washington in 1950.

Dayle was married to Gerald E. LaPore, from 1950 to 1965, and the late Robert L. Walden, from
1966 until his death in 2002.

She was an avid outdoors woman, artist, water skier, a true beauty, World War II buff, canoeist,
intellectual, mountaineer, mother, conservationist, friend, downhill skier, gardener, board sailor,
historian of Arctic explorers, registered guide, 737 co­pilot, gracious hostess, preservationist,
bird lover, collector, and a lover of beauty.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark LaPore; her husband, Robert L. Walden; and her
grandson, Austin Hudson ­LaPore.

She is survived by her children, Chris Walden, Claudia Walden, Gregg LaPore, Kevin Walden
and Leigh Walden Harris; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Scott, Carley, Katrina,
Christopher, Sarah, Stephen, Kaitlyn, Kevin, Aidan, Isobel and great­-grandson, Richard Sloane
Irvin as well as two step-great grandchildren, James and Clayton Friedman. She is also missed by her steadfast companion, E. Joseph Sharkey, Jr.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in
Tacoma, Washington, beside her parents.
