Melvin W. Jacobie, Jr., age 41, passed away on January 1, 2015, as the result of a tragic accident.

He was born on July 5, 1973, in Saratoga Springs, and was the son of Donna (Walsh) Jacobie and the late Melvin W. Jacobie, Sr.

On June 16, 2001, Melvin married the love of his life, Allison Howk, in St. James Episcopal Church in Fort Edward.

Melvin grew up on the family farm in Moreau and carried on the farming business in his father’s footsteps. He was a lifelong member of the American Angus Association. He also owned and operated an excavation business.

Melvin had a strong work ethic while tending to the farm and running his business on a daily basis. He was a giving and caring person who would stop whatever he was doing to help a friend or stranger in need.

His home was a warm and welcome place where friends and family would gather to enjoy each other’s company. His sons’ young friends would often spend time at the Jacobie farm.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Allison Jacobie; his two sons, Melvin W. Jacobie 3rd and Michael J. Jacobie, and their mother, Christine Bardin; his step-daughter, Stephanie Garrison; his mother, Donna Jacobie; as well as many, many friends and acquaintances.

Friends may call between 1 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A funeral service will be conducted immediately following calling hours at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Regina Haag of Adirondack Friends Meeting, officiating.

Burial will be at 2pm on Wednesday May 13, 2015 at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
