LAKE LUZERNE
Michael M. “Itch” Evanico, 61, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 18, 1958 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Yasko) Evanico.
Along with his parents, Michael built the Wedgewood Golf Course and then operated it for many years. He also worked at various other golf courses in the area. Golf was always one of his passions in life and he particularly loved playing with his father. One of Michael’s favorite jobs was providing transportation for the Irish dance company Rhythm in the Night, which allowed him to tour the entire country and meet many new people. He also loved researching family genealogy and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren experience life. Michael was an incredibly social guy who never met a stranger. He experienced life to the fullest and took nothing for granted. He made the most of each and every experience. People would leave encounters with him feeling as though they had met their new best friend, and he will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his aunt Helen Yasko.
Left to cherish his memory are his children (and their “Matts”) Sarah Frasier (Matthew Haley), and Kate Evanico (Matthew Forman), his grandchildren; Evan, Natalie, Rebekah, and Elowen, as well as many, many friends.
Friends may call from 1-2pm on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at the funeral home following the calling hour.
Rite of Committal will follow the services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Michael would want you to hug your loved ones and perform acts of kindnesses for others.
