Obituary for Mildred Haas "Milly" Shaw (Haas)

Greenwich

Mildred Haas Shaw, 94, of Salem St., Greenwich, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Pleasant Valley Health Care Facility, Argyle.

Born in Saratoga on August 25, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Carrie (Nichols) Haas.

Milly graduated from Schuylerville High School and the Eastman School of Business, Saratoga Springs, where she trained as a stenotype operator. She was employed as office manager of the Schuylerville Wall Paper Co. and United Board and Carton for 40 years.

She was a member of the United Church of Greenwich. Her interests were handwork, sewing, crocheting, especially fine hand hooking rugs and pictures.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Shaw, a machinest and contractor, her brothers, Charles and James Haas, her sister, Viola Haas Peck, her nephew, Louis Peck and her niece, Norma Haas DeWitt.

Survivors include, Phoebe Fontaine of Clarks Mills, Muriel Haas Hance of Fort Edward, Mary Kay Arakelian of Rocklin, Calif., Dorothy Hanlon of East Greenbush, Ruth Ann Beers of Essex Junction, VT, Rachel Kellogg of Monango, North Dakota, John Peck of Stillwater, Joseph Peck of Saratoga Springs plus children of the above including four generations, who treated Milly and Bob as if they were their children and her best friends, Marion Barton and Paul Schneible.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 4 to 7p.m. at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Argyle.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Simmons, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Greenwich Cemetery.
