SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Minne E. (Godfrey) Simmes, 89, of Main Street, passed away Sunday August 4, 2013 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and her dog “Waldo”.

Born June 22, 1924 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Peck) Godfrey Sr.

On March 17, 1945, Minnie married the love of her life Ernest R. (Eddie) Simmes at the Church of the Messiah, Glens Falls.

Minnie and Ed lived in South Glens Falls and raised their two sons Robin and Jon. She was the head of the Skateland Club. She loved roller-skating, architectural designing, camping, singing, and looked forward to the occasion trip to the casino’s.

But her biggest joy was her family. Her family was the center of her life. Sunday’s were always big dinners, cards and tons of laughter.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Minnie was predeceased by her brothers and sisters; Marion, Jodi, Charles, Gerry and Orrie Godfrey.

Minnie is survived her sons Robin Simmes and wife Pat, Jon Simmes and wife Diane; her loving grandchildren Jon E. Simmes . and Misty Ing; great grandchildren Kendra, Mackenzie and Ryan; her precious dog Waldo, as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will follow calling hours at 3p.m. at the funeral home with Regina Haag of Adirondack Friends Meeting, officiating.

Burial will follow services at Southside Cemetery.
