Miriam “Mim” McCarty Derocher, 91, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 at The Eddy Heritage Nursing Home.
Born July 23, 1922 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Cora (Tracy) McCarty of South Glens Falls.
Miriam was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and Albany Business College and was employed for 20 years in the Attorney General’s office of the New York State Department of Law in both Syracuse and Albany. At the time of her retirement, she was the Head Law Stenographer in the Appeals and Opinions Bureau in Albany.
In addition to her parents, Miriam was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Derocher and her brother Richard “Phil” McCarty.
Miriam is survived by her two sons, William “Bill” Derocher of Constantia,NY and Daniel J. Derocher and his wife Linda of Kirkville,NY and Kokomo,IN, her daughter Ellen Melchionni and her husband William of Loudonville, her grandchildren; Vincent Shepard, Cora Derocher, William Melchionni IV, Katherine Melchionni, and Martha Derocher, her sisters; Carol Canale and Greta Rozell, and her sister-in-law Joyce McCarty, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Road, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
Rite of Committal will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Miriam’s name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at the Eddy Heritage House in Troy for their kind and loving care.
