Obituary for Nancy Ellen Davis (Roberts)

Nancy Ellen Davis (Roberts)
ARGYLE, New York

Nancy Davis, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her home in Argyle, where she lived with Steve and Kim McLean.

Nancy was born on September 16, 1932 in Anderson, Indiana, where she, Ann, and Mary were raised by their parents, Raby and Frances (Sackett) Roberts. At Hanover College, she met Richard “Dic” Davis. More importantly, she came to know and trust Jesus while attending Hanover.

After graduation Nancy married Dic on September 19, 1954 and followed him to West Germany where he served in the U.S. Army. Returning to the states they lived, again, in Indiana where Kim was born, then moved to Ohio where Blake was born, New York where Lori was born, and Pennsylvania where Libby was born. They decided to stay put, and raised their family in Springfield, PA, where Nancy lived until Dic passed away just a year ago. Once their kids were busy raising their own children, Nancy and Dic returned to Germany, for a few years, where Dic had a civilian job.

Nancy loved to garden, modeled forgiveness, taught the Bible, prayed for others, and offered a listening ear to those who were brokenhearted. She was Dic’s primary caregiver for many years.

Great-grandchildren, Sophia, Anna and Samuel Ogden, and grandchildren, Rebecca (McLean) Ogden, Crystal McLean, Joshua McLean, Elizabeth (McLean) Hoffman, Jeremy Davis, Caleb Davis, Benjamin Gregory, Andrew Gregory, Sarah Gregory, Jack Newnam, and Ashley (Newnam) Rittenhouse, scattered around the world , did not get as much time with Nancy as they would have liked.

Nancy was warmly welcomed by the people of Argyle, although she said the weather here was too cold for her liking. Friends of the family are invited to a dessert reception, to be held in honor of Nancy, at the Argyle Presbyterian Church at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 10.

Funeral service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 123 Main Street Argyle, NY 12809. To view Nancy’s Book of Memories and post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
