Nettie  Irene (Brayton) Moore  Pekar
WILTON AND HARTFORD

Nettie Irene (Brayton) Moore Pekar , 86 , of Wilton and formerly of Hartford, passed away August 15, 2012 at the Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 8, 1925 in Hartford, NY to the late Thomas A. and Catherine (McKittrick) Brayton.

Besides her parents, Nettie was predeceased by her first husband Theodore Moore Sr., her second husband Stephen Pekar, infant daughter Barbara Moore, sister Ruth Conety and husband Orley.

She is survived by her sons Theodore Moore Jr. and his wife Penny of El Paso, TX and Thomas Moore and his wife Marlene of Wilton, grandsons Matthew Moore of Queensbury and Jason Moore of Houston, TX, step-granddaughter Carrie LeBlanc (Tracey) of Prairieville, LA, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren, her aunt Pearl Rhodes, special niece Karen Ayers (Bill) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nettie attended Hartford Schools. She worked at Mohawk Carpet and Binches (Native Textiles). She and Steve owned and operated the Hartford Town Tavern from 1966 to 1968. She sold it back to her mother, Catherine Brayton and moved to Crown Point. There she and Steve bought Putts Creek Inn, Bar & Restaurant and ran it from 1968 to 1971. She then worked for Charles Wood’s Storytown (Great Escape Fun Park). She was manager of all the novelty shops and was one of “Charlie’s Angels”-three special ladies that worked for Charlie Wood. She worked for him for 20 years until her retirement.

Nettie was a member of the Hartford Baptist Church and Anolia Chapter #140 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a founding member of the Adirondack Ramblers Country Band Fan Club and former member of North East Association of Country Western Entertainers (NEACWE). She was also a former member of the New York State Liquor Dealers Association. She loved to listen to music and dance. She and her husband Steve were a joy to watch on the dance floor doing ballroom dancing.

Nettie and her family spent many winters in Florida in the Kissimmee and Ocala area.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses and staff on the second floor at the Springs, Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs for the wonderful care and love given to Nettie during her last year. We also want to thank the staff and volunteers at the Community Hospice of Saratoga.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11am on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Hartford Yoked Parish, Main Street, Hartford with Rev. Patti Girard, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery, Granville.
