Obituary for Paul H. Klam

Paul H. Klam, 88, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 11, 1934, in New York, NY, Paul was the son of the late William and Ida (Khaner) Klam.

Paul was a General Agent for Berkshire Life in New York City and was an Army veteran serving from 1961 to 1962. In January of 1960, he married Marcia Smith and upon retiring the couple moved to the Granville area. He volunteered at the Mary Tanner School and then Granville Elementary School. He enjoyed helping teach kids to read, giving the morning announcements, emceeing events and telling jokes.

Paul will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his good sense of humor and his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, wood carving, cross-country skiing, swimming in their pond, whitewater rafting, their menagerie of horses, dogs, cats and chickens and spending time with his family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Susan Zuckerman.

Left to cherish his memory besides his wife of 63 years include his children, Brian Klam (Cheryl) of Annapolis, MD, Matthew Klam (Lara) of Washington, DC, and Julie Klam (Dan Davenport) of New York, NY; his four grandchildren, Sadie, Lily, Pixie and David; his brother-in-law, Harris Zuckerman of Charleston, SC; his sister-in-law, Mattie Matthews of New York, NY; his nephew, Jonny, and niece, Mandi, and his two pups, Sally and Vinny.

At Paul’s request there will be no calling hours or formal services.
