Obituary for Peter M. Nobile

QUEENSBURY
Peter M. Nobile, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2010, with his family at his side.

Born on January 10, 1918, Peter was the son of the late Carmine and late Mickeline (Funicello) Nobile. He attended St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls and was a lifelong resident of the greater Glens Falls/Queensbury area.

Peter was a member of the United States Army during World War Two, being honorably discharged in 1946. He came back to work and family, and was employed by the Scott Paper Company in Fort Edward, retiring after 42 years of service.

He was a communicant and usher at St. Mary’s Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and the past commander of the Glens Falls American Legion Post 233. He was proud to have served on the Glens Falls Cemetery Commission during the tenure of Mayor Frank O’Keefe.

Peter spent countless hours working as a volunteer with the Warren County, Office for the Aging, Meals on Wheels Program.

Peter greatly enjoyed spending time around his home, both grooming his lawn and working in his garden. He also enjoyed being with his family and especially the time he spent travelling all over the country with his wife, Fran. He also attended senior citizen functions and went to luncheons with The Pioneers, the largest industry-related volunteer organization in the world.

In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by Dorothy (Tripp) Nobile, the mother of his children and wife of 47 years; his second wife of 13 years, Frances (Damiano) Nobile; his sisters, Antoinette Giancola, Rose Demarino, and Louise Garzia; his brother Anthony Nobile; and also an infant brother, Anthony Nobile.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Imrie and her husband Bruce, Donna Nobile, and Michele Barry and her husband, Jack; a sister, Lucille Ziebert; his grandchildren: Jeffery Imrie and his wife, Laura; Jacquie Nichols and her husband Larry; Jennifer Imrie; Brian Paul and wife Amy; Cynthia Cifone; Matthew Cifone; Christine Clohosey and her husband, Thomas, Melissa Achterberg and her husband Kevin; Kelly Dewall; and William Kenny and his wife Sarah; eighteen great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on the family, Sunday, March 14, 2010 between 4 and 7 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. Online condolences may be posted at kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A funeral service will be conducted 10:30am Monday, March 15, 2010 at the funeral home, with Reverend Paul Cox, officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Peter’s near constant caregivers, Doreen and Sharri, as well as Anita, Estella, Colleen, Debbie and Dee. A special thanks also for Dr. David Cunningham and Julie Beecher for the love and compassion shown to their dad.
