Obituary

GANSEVOORT
Ralph Nelson Dow passed away at Saratoga Hospital on Thursday, April 25, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with kidney disease.

Ralph was born on April 21, 1939 in Lake Luzerne, NY and was the son of the late Nelson and Celestia (Hall) Dow.

Ralph married the love his life, Bonita Wood, on September 13, 1964, in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Glens Falls, NY. They spent 54 wonderful and loving years together.

Ralph worked as a payloader and bulldozer operator for the former Finch Pruyn Paper Company in Glens Falls, NY. He retired in 2001 after 27 years of faithful service to the company.

Most important to Ralph were his immediate and extended family. He enjoyed spending time with them and for many years would go on family camping trips. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NY Giants, and fond of listening to country music.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his in-laws Raymond and Irene Wood; his brothers in law, Robert Stevens Sr., John Casey, Del Corliss, and Ronald Hayes, Sr.; and a sister in law, Beverly Hayes.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonita L. (Wood) Dow; two sons, Michael Dow and Gregg Dow; his four sisters, Beverly Stevens, Marjorie (and Ray) Ware, Virginia Casey, and Melonie (and Russ) Doyle; his brothers, Douglas (and Diane) Dow, Gerald (and Eve) Dow, and John Dow; his grandchildren, Cody Dow, Rebecca Dow, and Kaitlyn Dow; as well as two great grandsons, a great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on the family Monday, April 29, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Gens Falls, NY 12803. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Paul Dufford, pastor of the Fortsville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place immediately after the funeral service in the Gansevoort Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the medical staff on Floor D1 at Saratoga Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Ralph during his illness.

Donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to the Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 172, Gansevoort, NY 12831 or Moreau Emergency Squad, 1583 Route 9, Moreau, NY 12828.
