Obituary for Raymond L. "Raymo" McCoy

Raymond L. “Raymo” McCoy, 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family after he fought a good fight with cancer.

Born in Glens Falls on June 3, 1946, he was the son of the late Frank and Iona (Varnum) McCoy.

Ray graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1964. He excelled in wrestling making it to the State Championship. Ray received an Associate’s Degree from ACC in 1982 and attended BOCES horticulture program in 2006.

On August 9, 1964, he married his soul mate Patricia Edwards.

For 41 loyal years, Ray worked for Native Textiles as a dye house supervisor/ lab manager, retiring in 2005.

Some of his enjoyments were cooking, writing, he was a diehard Giants football fan, telling stories, playing Yahtzee, loved being outdoors, hiking, canoeing, spending time on Schroon River and especially loved spending time with his family and taking his grandchildren camping.

In his younger years, Ray golfed in the Wedgewood and Sunnyside Golf Leagues with his co-workers, friends and father in-law.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 49 years, Patti McCoy, two daughters, Dawn Wood and husband Adam, and Christine Branion and husband Mike, grandchildren, Marlee and Jake Wood and Sam and Maddy Branion, brothers, Frank McCoy Jr. of Florida and Bill McCoy and wife Colleen of South Glens Falls, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted following calling hours at 7pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
