Huletts Landing on Lake George

Richard B. A. van Rhyn closed his eyes for the last time on Wednesday evening, September 12th, 2012 at Kinderhoek, his home overlooking Lake George.

He will be greatly missed by Stephanie, his wife, Nettie, his sister, and his close knit family and friends. Dick was born in 1924 in Holland, immigrated to the US with little and gave back much to the country he loved. He followed his dreams and encouraged and supported others to do the same, forever changing the lives of the people around him.

When Dick was eight his father passed away and already then he showed his ability to trade and communicate with people. During WWII he helped his family survive by trading bicycle tires for food. He always sought out opportunities and when he came to the United States in 1946 he pursued the American dream. He first worked in New York City and then in 1962 established a successful international trading company in White Plains which celebrated 50 years in February.

Through his many travels he discovered the beauty of Lake George and created a family retreat where we will continue to gather, enjoy the outdoors and feel his presence.
