Obituary for Rosalie C. Sears (Corentto)

Rosalie C. Sears (Corentto)
Fort Edward

Rosalie “Rosie” Cora (Corentto) (Hammond) Sears, 74, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Glens Falls on November 14, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Florence Kathleen (Richards) Corentto, and step-daughter of June (Tinny) Corentto.

On July 3, 1988, she married the love of her life, Raymond L. Sears, a wonderful spouse, companion, and stepfather to her eight children.

Rosie retired from NYS as a developmental therapist, working at Wilton Developmental Center and later at West Seneca Developmental center. She found her work very rewarding and fulfilling.

Everyone loved her infectious laugh and robust personality. She had the ability to make everyone who met her feel important, welcomed and loved.

Rosie enjoyed cooking, gardening, watching birds, game shows, and old movies, collecting dolls, gingerbread men, and figurines, and, most of all, having coffee while visiting with family and friends. She not only saved but cherished every photo, card, note, and letter she received from loved ones.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Raymond Sears, her children; Susan Dickson and husband Gerald of Fort Ann, Walter “Chip” Hammond and companion Mary Rouse of Granville, Cindy Smith and husband Rick of Newport News, VA, Patti Dube of Heburn, Chris “Bucky” Hammond and wife Kerri of Glens Falls, Anthony “Tony” Hammond and wife Mona of Hickory, NC, Mark Hammond and wife Teresa of Glens Falls, Kathleen “Kathy” Pratt and husband David of Henrietta, NY. She is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; her step mother, June (Tinny) Corentto; her siblings, Joan Martin and husband Robert, Daniel “Butch” Corentto and wife Sandra, Corinne “Rene” Pecue and husband Peter, Michael “Mike” Corentto and wife Beverly; along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Rosalie’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3pm on Wednesday June 19, 2013 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
