Obituary for Rose M. Barlow (Amorosi)

Rose M. Barlow, 95, of Fort Edward passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born in Fort Edward, NY on Sept. 13, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Elvira (Sciaretta) Amorosi.

Rose was a 1933 graduate of Fort Edward high school. She went to work for Union Bag for several years, later devoting her life to caring for her husband, home, and family.

On February 11, 1939 Rose married Richard T. Barlow in St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward. She enjoyed traveling to where ever Dick was stationed, before he went overseas in World War II. Dick passed away September 9, 1973.

In her early years, Rose loved going to casinos and travelling to Florida to visit with her son and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her caregivers and cats. Rose had a wonderful knack for making people laugh and was quick with a sly remark or facial expression.

Besides her parents and husband, Rose was predeceased by her brother Donald Amorosi.

Rose is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Barlow of Fort Edward and Richard C. Barlow of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Sara (Mike) Lawhon, Ryan (Lindsey) Barlow, Bethanie (Ashanni) Crawford, Courtney (Eric) Bagley, and Ellen Rose Barlow all of Lakeland, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Grace and Sofia Lawhon, Jaxon Barlow, Kearstin Odom, Gavin Santos, Mia Crawford, Brody Bagley, and Madison Tomlinson all of Lakeland, Fla.; sister, Anita Arcuri of Fort Edward. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. Joseph's Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, and Rev. Martin J. Fisher, pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Edward.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose's memory may be made to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc. P.O. Box 226, Schuyler St. Fort Edward, NY 12828 or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kimberly Urtz and Linda Barton for their wonderful care, friendship, companionship, and love. Also, they would like to thank Dr. Paul Bachman and Glen Anderson of Hudson Headwaters, the staff of the Homeward Bound program, the staff of the Glens Falls Hospital emergency room, and the Critical Care unit, tower 5.
