Ruth E. Wood, 81, of state Route 40, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 15, 2010.

Ruth was born on July 29, 1928, the daughter of Roy and Maude (Lashway) Clements.

Ruth grew up in Glens Falls with her 11 siblings. After graduation from high school she met Francis E. Wood, Sr. and they married on September 15, 1946. They moved around for a number of years while he was in the service and while he pursued jobs in different communities finally settling in Argyle in 1966 with their seven sons.

Ruth enjoyed her years bringing up their seven sons. She was an excellent cook and made delicious spaghetti and meatballs to feed the neighbors and her family. Her flower gardens were a great satisfaction to her. Her chocolate cakes and frosting were made from scratch and they were in great demand. Doing jig-saw puzzles and playing rummy with her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Francis E. Wood, Sr. in 2007, and her sons, Francis E. Wood, Jr. in 2008, Matthew D. Wood in 2008 and Mark A. Wood in 2009.

Survivors include her children: Darryl T. Wood and his wife Janet of Argyle; Bradley J. Wood of Argyle; Adam J. Wood and his wife Dawn of North Argyle and Michael S. Wood and his wife Karen of North Argyle; her daughters-in-law Dawn Wood of West Pawlet, VT; Deana Wood of Wevertown and Jeanne Wood of Granville; 26 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; her sisters: Ethel Morris of Glens Falls; Irene "Pete" Rowell of Glens Falls; Margie Walker and her husband Jim of Glens Falls and Loren Clements of Florida and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Ruth's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12309. On-line condolences may be made at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com

Boss, the nurses at the Cancer Center and the Hospice and Public Health nurses, aides and staff for their caring concern.
