Sara “Sally” Smith-Allen, 73, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at her home.
Born on Oct. 21, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy (Sebert) Smith.
On May 27, 1967, Sally married Donald Allen at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church in Queensbury, NY. They spent 46 years together until his passing in July of 2013.
Sally worked for Glens Falls Hospital as a Nurses Assistant for 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed crocheting, animals and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sally was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Steven, James and Edward Allen, a sister-in-law, Pamela Allen.
Left to cherish her memory include her daughters Nancy Hellman and her husband Jon of Averill Park, NY, and Nicole Allen-Almy and her husband Christopher of Utica, NY; her grandchildren; Nathaniel, Noah and Mary Hellman, and Zoey and Ava Block; a brother, Marvin Smith and his wife Linda of Hudson Falls, and a sister, Nancy O’Sick of Largo, FL; brothers-in-law, William Allen and his wife Toni of Glens Falls, Christopher Allen of Queensbury; a sisters-in-law, Cynthia Lemery and Elizabeth Allen both of Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Sally’s request there will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30am on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019 at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with Rev. Penny Brink, Pastor officiating.
Interment will be held at 1:30pm following the memorial service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of the United States, 2100 L. St. NW, Washington, DC 20037.
