Shirley R. LaPoint, 76, passed away on June 28, 2014 at her home with her loving husband, Bud, at her side.

Born on September 11, 1937, in Gansevoort, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Zella (Gallup) Selfridge.

She attended the one-room school house at Clark’s Corners until it burned down in February 1948. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School, class of 1955.

On September 8, 1957, she married Fredrick I. “Bud” LaPoint, Jr. at the Gansevoort Methodist Church.

After 27 years of service, she retired in 1999 from the Glens Falls National Bank as an Administrative Assistant.

Shirley enjoyed being with her family, country music, camping, crossword puzzles, and her many cats over the years. She and Bud spent their retirement traveling together, visiting all but one state in the continental United States. They often enjoyed taking trips with the members of the Moreau Community Center and frequently vacationed in their RV with family and friends. She was dearly loved by all that knew her and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband Bud of 56 years; her children, Michael LaPoint, Stephen LaPoint, and his wife Donna, Leslie Munger and her husband Darryl, and David LaPoint and his partner Ron Biles; her eight grandchildren: Benjamin, Joshua and Katelyn LaPoint, Jonathan Munger, and his wife, Brandy, Angela Munger, Jason LaPoint, and his wife, April, Jeremy LaPoint, and Ashley LaPoint; her great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Nora and Jonathan Munger, and Trenton and Trevor LaPoint; her brother, James R. Selfridge; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Baker; three nieces, one nephew, several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. at the funeral home following calling hours on July 3, 2014 with Regina Haag, officiating. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
