FORT EDWARD

Steven J. Cullen Jr., 33, went to meet his creator on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Steven had bravely battled cancer for the last 18 months.

Born in West Palm Beach, FL on January 18, 1981, he was the son of Karen (Gilbo) Cullen and the late Steven J. Cullen Sr.

He graduated from Warrensburg High School.

Steven was most recently employed by Irving Tissue for 10 years. He was an avid 18th century re-enactor. Steven camped and battled many places including Fort William Henry, Crown Point, Rogers Island, Johnson Hall and one of his favorites, Rangers wars on Black Mountain. He belonged to Speakmans Rangers, Jack-abites Rangers, and was one of the founding fathers of Jacobs Rangers. “Jacob Naunauphtawnk” as he was known, participated in local pow-wows as a dancer. Stephen kept alive Native American traditions with his quil work, rouch making and other native crafts. Steven had a special love for Ticonderoga area.

“Jacob” is the father of two beautiful girls that he took to encampments at as early as 1 day old. Born on battle weekend at Rogers Island, they were dedicated Native American there and also celebrated birthdays there at the island. Steven was in a movie “Our National Heritage, the story of America.”

Steven had a love for wrestling. He had wrestled semi-pro in Vermont, and owned his own wrestling school for a short time until his illness.

Besides his father, Steven is predeceased by his grandparents, Ann and Donald Gilbo and Mary and James Cullen.

Steven leaves behind his mother, Karen Cullen of Fort Edward, his daughters, Davina and Talia Cullen and their mother, Lucy Bush, his best friend of many years, Vincent Crowley, aunts, uncles, many cousins, and numerous re-enacting brothers and sisters for sharing memories with him.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family
