Obituary for Thelma Gannon

Fort Edward
Thelma Gannon, 85, of Fort Edward passed away peacefully at The Pines Nursing Home in Glens Falls, on Saturday May 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 4, 1930 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late, Joseph and Evelyn (Coulombe) Gannon.

Born and raised in the “little Canada” area of Fort Edward, she attended Fort Edward High School, graduating in the class of 1947.

Thelma was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward for many years; she also married her husband, Earl “Boo” Gannon at St. Joseph’s Church, and they spent many happy years until his death in June of 1983.

Thelma went on to raise their children and was a home maker for many years.

She enjoyed activities such as sitting on the deck feeding squirrels peanuts, watching her T.V. shows, spending time with her family and grandchildren; she loved cats, and was especially fond of her time working at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Besides her parents and husband, Thelma is predeceased by her brothers, Gyle, Thomas and Clyde Etu; as well as her sisters, Mildred Doyle and Theresa Haynes.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Darrin Gannon and his wife Heidi, of Fair Haven VT and Kim Gannon; her brother in law, James Gannon and his wife Phoebe; her sisters in law, Barbara MacPherson, Loraine Etu, Arlene Etu and Elsie Etu; her grandchildren, Heather, Adam, Leah, Joseph and Holly Gannon; great granddaughter, Isabelle Gannon Greenough; as well as her close friend, Arv O’Connell.

At Thelma’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828. To view Thelma’s Book of Memories and to post online condolences, please visit our website at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
