Obituary for Theodore M. "Ted" Cross
Argyle/ Grand Island, FL
Theodore M. “Ted” Cross, 98, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 7, 1925, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Theodore and Irene (Patten) Cross.
Ted was married to the love of his life Bernice Wells on June 2, 1946, at Fort Ann Baptist Church. They enjoyed many happy years together. He lovingly cared for her after she became ill until her passing in 1992.
Ted was a master carpenter, electrician, and plumber. He was co-founder of Crowell Construction Company. He also worked for Hilltop Construction Company and enjoyed the time he spent helping on the Pettys Farm.
He was a Mason for 71 years, a Master Mason and District Deputy Grand Lecturer for Eastern Star.
Ted enjoyed the fellowship of church, woodworking in his shop, travel and time with family.
He volunteered for many years at the hospital in Taveras, FL, and received an award from the state for his many hours of service.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ted is predeceased by his brother, Donald Cross, and his sister, Betty Aubrey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Cheryl (Bob) Sheridan, Greg (Mary) Cross, Rod (Michele) Cross, and Colleen (Gibb) McIntyre; his 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren with twins on the way in February. His sisters Shirley Bahr and Marilyn Durkee also survive him.
Friends and family may call from 10am to 12pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle NY 12809. A service will be conducted after calling hours at 12pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be immediately after the service at Morningside Cemetery in Hartford.
