Thomas J. Mahoney, Jr. 69, of Argyle,NY, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born 11/28/1943 in Watervliet,NY, he was the son of Thomas J. Mahoney, Sr, and Jayne (Armstrong) Mahoney.

He was the beloved husband of Roselyn Goebel Mahoney, who he married on October 5, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Church in Cohoes, NY.

Thomas was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Watervliet, NY and Shaker High School in Colonie, NY. He was employed by Behr-Manning, Albany International, and also of Albany Felt in research and development where he traveled for the company, before starting his own business, Filtra Fabrics, Inc. in 1974. After his retirement, he pursued his love of research and archaeology.

Tom was a lifelong researcher who believed in reading and researching for yourself to find truth in history and this world. He had a knack for seeing things that other people did not see. He had a passion for archaeology where he studied many ancient calandar sites. He also helped preserve the Native American Indian Burial Mound in Hoosick Falls, NY. He found secrets in Egypt and the Pyramids, and he drove locusts out of Africa using sound frequency with his son, Tom III. One of his favorite pastimes was collecting sand dollars on the beaches of Maine just like his grandson Logan does today.

Thomas was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. Mahoney, Sr., his brother James Mahoney, and his cherished grandmother, Nana.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving mother, Jayne Mahoney as well as his loving wife of 49 years, Rose (Goebel) Mahoney, his son Thomas J. Mahoney, III and his wife Sandy and his most cherished grandson Logan of Fort Edward, NY, his daughter Leah A. Mahoney and her companion Bill of Argyle, his sister Christine Beckstein and her husband Tom of Grafton, NY, his brother Neil Mahoney of Willsboro, NY, sister-in-law Liz, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 1-4pm on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809. A Memorial Service will follow at 4pm at the funeral home with Rev.
