Obituary for William John Whaley

FORT ANN

William J. Whaley, 79, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born October 16, 1934 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mary (Duffy) Whaley.

William was married to Loretta (Simmons) Whaley for 47 years before her death in 2003.

William proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 574 in Hudson Falls, the VFW, The Lions Club, and the Idlehour Club in Fort Edward, NY. Most of all, William loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, William was predeceased by his sisters; Maggie King, Ruth Rabine, Rose Santos, Joan Durran, and Jule Chamberlain, and his brothers; Don Whaley, Tag Whaley, and Edgar “Bud” Whaley.

Left to cherish his memory are William’s children; George Whaley and his wife Ki of Fort Edward, Mary Whaley of Hudson Falls, Kathy Whaley and her companion Tom Sellingham Jr., of Fort Ann, and Linda Whaley of Corinth, his grandchildren; Heather Fowler and her husband Seth of Saratoga, Dan Whaley and his wife Nicole of Fort Edward, Rich Whaley of Latham, Willie Beadleston and his wife Missy of Kingsbury, Matthew Beadleston of Greenwich, and Courtney Graham of Kingsbury, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A remembrance of William’s life will be celebrated at 4pm following calling hours with Rev. Michael Plank of the First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls officiating.

Graveside Services with military honors will be conducted at 11:am Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle.
