Obituary for Withey "Pauline" Mary

Mary “Pauline” Withey, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday April 5, 2015 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House.

Pauline was one of twelve children born to the late Walter and Margaret Calhoun in New Brunswick, Canada.

She retired from Magrams in the Queensbury Mall and also worked at the Fashion Shop in downtown Glens Falls. Pauline enjoyed fashion and loved to shop. She lived on Wilson Avenue in South Glens Falls for 50 years and enjoyed her home, neighbors and friends.

Pauline especially loved visits from family. She was a very compassionate and giving person. She rarely missed an important event in her children’s or grandchildren’s lives no matter how far she had to travel. She thoroughly enjoyed a trip to Paris and London with her daughter and granddaughters

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ferris Withey and her daughter, Yvonne Prentice, four sisters and five brothers.

Pauline is survived by her daughter Jean and her husband Michael Ward, with whom she lived in Port St Lucie Florida for the last 11 years, her son Gary and his wife Lynn Withey from Alta Loma California. Also survived by her sister Leona and her husband Gene Furlotte from Moncton NB, Canada, and her brother Cleve Calhoun from Annandale, VA; eight grandchildren: Leslie Prentice, Julie Prentice, Michael Jr., and his wife Mirtala Ward, Deborah and husband David Lyall, Dr. James Withey, John Withey, Joseph Withey, and Jacqueline Withey; six great grandchildren, Grace Prentice, Gabriel, Liam, Mateo Ward, Edward and Andrew Lyall.

A celebration of Pauline’s life will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Burial will follow the celebration at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.

It was Pauline’s request that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
