South Glens Falls and Utica
Nevin W. Gillmor, 96, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, NY with his family by his side.
Born April 25, 1922, in Saratoga Springs, son of the late Leslie and Mary (Harkness) Gillmor. In addition to his parents, Ned was predeceased by his daughter, Cindy Lee Wilson; his sister, Marjorie Bailey (Richard) and his brother, Hugh Gillmor (Eleanor).
Ned was a World War II veteran serving in Africa and Italy in the 941st Aviation Engineer Topographic Battalion. As a veteran, he was honored to be included on the Freedom Flight to Washington D.C. After his service he went to work for Sandy Hill Corporation in Hudson Falls, retiring after 42 years in the Engineering Department. He was a member of the TAPPI Association retiring in 1984.
He married Kathleen “Kay” Fowler of Argyle, NY on April 26, 1947 at Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls.
A member of both Fortsville Methodist Church and South Glens Falls Methodist Church, he regularly attended the Men’s Tuesday Morning Breakfast Group. He was also a member of the Senior Bowling League in South Glens Falls. Ned found his greatest passion and love for hockey as a youth living in Ottawa. After retiring he had the time to enjoy his love of hockey by joining senior skating at the YMCA where he met other retirees who enjoyed skating as much as he did and where the Glens Falls Senior Hockey Group was formed.
In addition to skating, his other passion was oil painting. As a young man Ned studied painting at the Hyde. He also loved photography, gardening, square dancing, bowling, and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Kay; his daughter, Judith Abbott (Karl Wysocki) of Acworth, GA; his son-in-law, Robert Wilson of Jordanville, NY; his grandchildren, Andrew N. Wilson (fiancé, Christina Lewis), Susanne Wilson of Rome; his great-granddaughters, Jessica Wilson, Kathleen Madison, Regan Lewis; his great-great granddaughter, Emma Eva Madison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be conducted following the calling hours at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Dufford, pastor of Fortsville United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
