Obituary

Carolee Adele Webster passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 7th in Argyle, NY.

She was born in Queens, NY on August 15, 1940 to Henry and Carol Nubel.

Her middle name came from her father’s sister, the Hollywood film actress Adele Jergens. She graduated at 16 from high school in Queens, NY and attended Packer College, where she earned an Associate’s degree in Secretarial Studies and was elected the President of her class. One of her first jobs was working as a Secretary at the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation in Manhattan. In 1971, the Websters settled in Argyle, NY where she served as a Secretary at Argyle Central School for more than 25 years, until she retired in 1998.

Her great passions were reading, gardening, dining on gourmet food with friends, hiking, ball room dancing and bargain hunting. Retirement gave her and Robert, her husband of 53 years, more time for adventures in Europe, Cyprus, West Africa, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. Carolee’s appreciation for the fine arts led her to serve as a volunteer Docent at the Hyde Museum in Glens Falls. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, and an active, generous person who cared greatly about the local community.

She is survived by her husband, Robert and their two children, Craig Webster (currently of Fishers, Indiana) and Valerie Gueye (currently of Accra, Ghana), their spouses and their five children and brother Roger and sister-in-law Lindi Nubel (Long Island).

Friends may call from 10 to 12 noon Saturday March 9 at the M.B. Kilmer funeral home, 123 Main St. Argyle. For online condolences and to view Carolee's Book of Memories, please visit our website at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A reception will follow the calling hours from 12noon to 2pm Saturday at fellowship hall at the Argyle Presbyterian Church, Main St. Argyle.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Argyle Free Library, 21 Sheridan Street, Argyle, NY 12809 or the J. A. Barkley Hose Co., P.O. Box 263, Argyle, NY 12809 will be appreciated.

I will be one of many who will miss Carolee and Bob’s trips to NZ and the stories of their adventures. Our friendship started with a chance meeting in Abel Tasman National Park and quickly revealed much in common and an enduring friendship evolved. Such a warm and caring woman, and a lovely humour. Her recipes will continue the connection we made.
My condolences to Bob and the family.
