Obituary for Daniel G. Chapin

Daniel G. Chapin, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his home.

Born in Granville on January 20, 1945, he was the son of the late Howard and Betty (Taylor) Chapin.

He attended Hartford Central School. Daniel was drafted in the United States Army and served his country proudly.

Daniel worked for the Town of Hartford Highway Department for more than 40 years where he was known as “Tink” because he was able to fix anything and was always tinkering on things.

He enjoyed 4-wheeling, taking scenic photography, keeping himself busy by making wooden toys for his grandchildren, and he also loved to plow snow.

Besides his parents, Dan is predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Lundy) Chapin.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Michael Chapin, Eric Chapin and wife Caroline, LeeAnn Shaw and husband James, Robert D. Chapin and wife Shelley, and Andrew Chapin, grandchildren, James and Dylan Shaw, Emma, Jill, Harrison, Howard, and Henry Chapin, fiancée, Donna Purdy and her family, sisters, Ann Marie Hammond and husband Watson and Donna Lee Bardin and husband William, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11am on Tuesday July 29, 2014 at the West Hebron United Presbyterian Church 3153 County Road 30, Salem, NY 12865 with Laura Mitchell, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Truthville, NY.
