The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Daniel Chapin can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Don't try to take me to a disco

Uncle Dan was a man of many talents: plowman extraordinaire, master craftsman of plump, wooden Santa's and... a natural karaokier. With a new karaoke machine, I was ready to duet the night away. Taking a shot in the dark I said, "Uncle Dan, do you want to sing with me?" And to my surprise, he said, "Only if I can pick the song." After the fifth "practice-run" of the 4:00 minute tune (and my forever changing choreography), he surely regretted this decision. But he stuck it out until the big performance. And I will be forever grateful. We debuted at TheHammieBasement, a popular venue every Mother's and Father's Day. The crowd went wild as Uncle Dan Seger belted out "Today's music ain't got the same soul, I like that old time rock 'n' roll..." We sang our hearts out. We danced to the beat of our own drum. And we laughed until our bellies hurt. Uncle Dan, I know you're swinging Aunt Kate around the dance floor of Heaven now, singing your own tune. I can hear your chuckle harmonizing with her contagious laugh. I love you both. Keep on rockin'. Xoxo, Bessie May
