James S. Williams, 93, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2014 at the Stanton Nursing Home in Queensbury.

Born March 31, 1921 in South Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Jennie (Losaw) and Austin Williams Sr.

James proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed by Decora in Fort Edward until his retirement. James was also a member of the VFW Post 574 in Hudson Falls, NY.

James enjoyed walking to the farmer’s market in Glens Falls each weekend. He also loved trivia and doing jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, James enjoyed playing Santa Claus, and will always be remembered for appearing in the Joy Store parade, and performing as Santa for many organizations and causes.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his wife, Elaine (Manning) Williams in 2004, his brothers; George Williams, Austin Williams, Jr., and Gerald Williams, his sister, Bettie Kozera, and his son and daughter-in law, Richard Haines and his wife Phyllis.

Survivors include his son, James A. Williams and his wife Joanne, his grandchildren; Melissa MacDonald and her partner Ken Willoghby, James R. Williams, Darrell Haines and his wife Beth, David Haines and his wife Heather, Andrew Haines and his wife Nicole, and Kimberly Parks and her husband Edward, his sister Sharon LaPrairie and her husband Robert, his brother Robert Williams, his brother David Williams and his wife Linda, his brother Roger Williams and his wife Barb, and his sister Bernice Cronk, his special cousins Pam and Mike Peck, as well as several great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call to celebrate the life of both James and Elaine Williams on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 12-1pm at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. A memorial service for both Elaine and James will be conducted at 1pm at the funeral home with Regina Haag of the Adirondack Friends Meeting officiating.

Interment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
