Winifred I. O’Brien, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Washington Center surrounded by her family.

Born in Dumont, NJ on January 3, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Watson J. and Edith M. (Duncan) Stewart.

She was a graduate of Dumont High School in Dumont, NJ. After graduation, Winifred went to work for the railroad in Manhattan, where she met her husband.

On November 22, 1952, Winifred married Daniel Vincent O’Brien at St. Mary’s Church in Dumont, NJ. They spent 60 years together before Daniel’s passing in 2012.

Winifred enjoyed horses, golfing, and especially loved taking care of and being with her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Winifred is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy M. Jones, two brothers, Donald Stewart and Charles Stewart.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Daniel V. O’Brien Jr., Patricia A. Bryant and husband Edgar G., Barbara A. Spring and husband Anthony F. Jr., grandchildren, Collin Bryant, Christopher Bryant, Kym Smith, Katie O’Brien, and Connor O’Brien, along with several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am on Friday November 21, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828 with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow at Gerald B.H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duel Road, Schuylerville, NY.

Donation in Winifred’s memory may be made to Double L. Stable Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 9 Tilford Road, Argyle, NY 12809.
