Joe Prefontaine, known to my children as "Uncle Joe", was a leader in emergency services in the Ossining, New York area for a great number of years. He was a leader in the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as Captain, and as a teacher( First Aid CPR and EMT ratings), and as a great friend to all. He was giving of himself, to his work as a corrections officer, to his community. He became an "Uncle" to my son Daniel and daughter Jessica. He lovingly called them both "Trouble" and was willing to keep his eye on them when asked. He taught me my EMT skills and we often went on calls together, where he extended the classroom into the field. He was never happy with just ok, but wanted better as a standard. His countenance will be missed by myself and my family. I believe that I will see "PRE" again and I know what he might say at my prescence. Like my children, he is going to say, "Here comes Trouble" I will always accept that, because it comes from a wonderful friend, whom I will never forget.
